Two 16-year-old male Platte County High School students have been arrested for vandalizing the school. Their names have not been released because of their age.
Authorities have recovered much of the stolen property taken from the school.
Police are holding the teenagers pending the filing of juvenile charges.
The break-in occurred around 4 a.m. Monday at the school at 1501 Branch Street in Platte City. The suspects climbed onto the roof in the rear of the school and broke through a computer lab window.
They stole computers and tablet devices, smashed dozens of computer monitors, and left behind widespread damage and graffiti.
Police estimates of the damage were around $100,000 early in the investigation, but they now say it was more like $40,000 to $50,000.
