The Platte County Sheriff’s Office will begin hosting a citizen’s academy this fall. Participants will get an in-depth look at Sheriff’s Office operations and will be instructed by deputies on subjects related to all of the divisions of the Sheriff’s Office. Participation in the Academy is free of charge.
The inaugural session will be on September 9, 2014. The Academy will meet Tuesday nights from 6:30pm until 9:30pm for nine weeks. One Saturday afternoon session will also be part of the Academy.
Class size is limited to 20 people. Citizens of Platte County and people who run businesses in Platte County are eligible to enroll in the Academy.
Participants must be at least 18 years of age and have no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions. Individuals interested in obtaining more information on the Academy or applying to participate should visit the Sheriff’s Office website at http://plattesheriff.org/sheriffs-citizens-academy. Information can also be obtained by contacting the administrative offices of the Sheriff’s Office during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00p
Sheriff Mark Owen says in a news release that the citizens of Platte County are an essential part of law enforcement in the community.
