A woman from Kearney and a man from Kansas City, granted probation in two meth cases, will likely spend time in prison anyway.

Kristen Milum was granted probation Friday in a pair of drug cases in Atchison, Kansas. She was arrested in April in a pickup truck that had been stolen in Kansas City. Milum allegedly used that truck to pick up a co-defendant after his release from jail.

The pair were arrested after an officer spotted the truck with no tags in Atchison. A search by the officer turned up methamphetamine. Milum gave the officer a false name.

A short time later, after both were released from jail, and he’d been out less than an hour, the pair were arrested again, and were again charged with possession of meth.

Milum was sentenced Friday in Atchison to a total of 40 months in prison for her guilty plea on two counts of drug possession and one charge of interference with a law officer. She was granted probation in both cases.

Milum is on her way to Clay County, Missouri, where she faces another warrant for burglary and theft.

Proceedings are still pending against the co-defendant Stanley Fleer. He also pleaded guilty in both drug cases, and was granted probation earlier this week. But County Attorney Jerry Kuckleman says he’s back in jail in Atchison. About five days after his release on probation he was arrested for theft at a local Walmart store.

Kuckleman says Fleer will face revocation of his probation in addition to the new theft case.
