Two women who police say watched a brutal homicide then helped try to cover it up made court appearances on Monday.

Police say Patricia Butler and Dollie Williams watched as two men beat Jason Davies to death with a baseball bat and a frying pan at a St Joseph apartment September 15.

Williams pleaded guilty November 8 to one count of tampering with evidence for allegedly cleaning up the bloody apartment after the beating. Judge Patrick Robb ordered Williams to serve three years in prison.

Police say Butler also witnessed the homicide, and then called her brother to help dispose of the body. Butler was arraigned Monday on charges of evidence tampering after waiving her preliminary hearing last month. She entered a plea of not guilty. Judge Patrick Robb scheduled the case for a docket call January 27.

Her brother Billy Wilson pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years in prison for providing the wheel barrow used to move the body.

Robert Jarrell and Martin Rilinger are charged with beating Davies to death with a baseball bat and a frying pan at an apartment in the 800 block of North 13th in St Joe.  Authorities say the body was then dumped in the Missouri River. The body was found four days later in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Jarrell and Rilinger are awaiting trial on charges of second degree murder.
