Almost a dozen arrested in Chillicothe on drug charges

Chillicothe Police Department Patch11 people were arrested on drug charges last week in Chillicothe after numerous police investigations.

“Officers have responded to different locations in reference to a variety of calls and they received tips in reference to drug activity and act on it resulting in the seizure of narcotics and the arrest of drug users,” Det. Jon Maples with the Chillicothe Police Department said.

49-year-old Brent Trower was arrested April 18 for the manufacturing of marijuana.  Police said they responded to the 600 block of Williams street on a disturbance call which later turned into a drug investigation where more than 1,000 grams of marijuana was seized.

Two days later officers responded to the 900 block of Frederick Ave. in reference to a domestic disturbance call which also lead to a drug investigation in which 48-year-old Michelle Maglio was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

41-year-old Brian Gatson, 41-year-old Sicily Miller, and 30-year-old Jennifer Girratono were arrested on April 21 for possession of methamphetamine after officers conducted a drug investigation in the 10 block of Third Street.

19-year-old Justin Hamilton was arrested for possession of methamphetamine April 23 after the department said officers patrolling the area of the 1000 block of N. Washington Street came across a suspicious person.

That same day, 19-year-old Mark Edwards was arrested for possession of marijuana after a drug investigation was conducted in the 10 block of St. Paul Street.

41-year-old Jeffery Taylor was arrested for posession of marijuana and controlled pills Friday after officers responded on a drug investigation in the 1000 block of Jackson St.

That same day the department said a lengthy undercover operation resulted in the arrest of 22-year-old Marques Reed in the 400 block of Vine Street for the distribution of marijuana.

Also that day ,the Chillicothe Police Department executed a search warrant with the assistance of the S.P.I.D.E.R. unit on a residence in the 1100 block of Jackson Street.  There, 31-year-old Lesley Copelin and 35-year-old Mathew Johnson were arrested for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.  Police said during this investigation there were also several other items seized along with the narcotics.

Det. Maple said getting these drugs off the street involved tips from the public as well as multiple hours of undercover operations.

“Working hard at the Chillicothe Police Department to get these drugs off the street and to help people recover,” Det. Maples said. “We’re always looking into a variety of crimes in Chillicothe and we try to make them lead to other arrests and try to clean the streets up of Chillicothe to make the citizens feel safer.”

Officers also arrested Blaze Hussey during a traffic stop April 21 in the 700 block of Webster Street on a warrant for assault on law enforcement and resisting arrest.  Hussy fled the area on foot but was later taken into custody by Chief Knouse in the 600 block of Cherry St.
