Joestock Acoustic?

Joestock tentA severe thunderstorm in St Joseph might have changed the musical offerings at the “Joestock” music festival Sunday, but it didn’t change their determination, or their dedication.

About thirty minutes after the storm passed through the area, volunteers with the St Joseph Music Foundation were out checking on the damage at Coleman Hawkins Park.

Wind had toppled several chairs and one vendor’s tent, but the big question mark was on stage.

Heavy rain, blowing nearly horizontally, drenched the electronic gear on stage.

One volunteer said it was more a question of what WASN’T damaged. When asked if they would be able to turn on the PA at the scheduled start time (11am Sunday), he said “if not, it will be Joestock Acoustic.”

There was scattered tree damage in the midtown area, and scores of homes throughout St Joseph lost electrical power. By 7:15am, a KCP&L Power Outage Map indicated more than 400 customers without electricity in St Joseph.
