A two vehicle accident sent two women to the hospital Monday afternoon.
Just after 12:30 p.m. at Belt Highway and Mitchell Avenue St. Joseph Police Department Sgt. Steve Smith said the driver of the truck driving westbound on Mitchell Ave. made a left hand turn in front of the driver of the Truck headed eastbound causing the accident.
“Any of the intersections out here are extremely busy especially around lunchtime, rush hour, morning and evening,” Smith said. “People just need to pay more attention to what’s going on, pay attention to what’s around them and make sure they have a clear traffic path before they make any turning maneuvers or lane changes or anything else.”
Smith said one woman was transported to Mosaic Life Care with non-life threatening head injuries. The second driver was pregnant and also transported to Mosaic Life Care for an evaluation.
The driver of the westbound truck was issued a ticket for left-hand turn in front of another vehicle.
