Sheriff Steve Cox says the men allegedly left the scene of a vehicle crash Monday night on US-36 highway. The Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were wrapping up their investigation into the crash when deputies were summoned to a home east of Chillicothe.

Sheriff Cox says the two men allegedly broke into the home while the owners slept and removed various items of value until they were confronted by one of the homeowners.

Cox says one suspect ws caught southeast of the home and taken into custody. The search continued for the second suspect. A motorist informed law enforcement of a man walking on a nearby rural, gravel road. Cox says a check of that person resulted in the arrest of the second suspect.

Both men were arrested and are awaiting charges in Livingston County Court.

Cox identified the suspects as Terry Green, 50, and Virgil Hurling, 46. Both men are from Chillicothe. They are each accused of 1st Degree Burglary and Stealing. By mid-afternoon, no charges had been filed.
