WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Sam Graves (MO-06), House Small Business Committee Chairman, released the following statement after the announcement that Eric Holder will be resigning as Attorney General of the United States.
“Today’s announcement that Attorney General Holder will be resigning is long overdue,” said Rep. Graves. “Mr. Holder took a sworn oath to defend the Constitution and uphold and enforce the laws of this country – time and again he has fallen well short,” Rep. Graves continued. “From the Fast and Furious gun-trafficking scandal to the secret targeting of journalists to his failure to cooperate with Congressional investigations – he has shown a complete disregard for the Constitution and his duties as the nation’s chief law enforcement officer. I am hopeful that Mr. Holder’s successor will have a greater appreciation for the office of Attorney General and the Constitution he or she is expected to uphold.”
