The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission on Wednesday approved the final list of transportation projects that would be funded by a special statewide sales tax if voters approve Amendment 7 next month.
Northwest Missouri would see 886 miles of roadway resurfacing including 150 miles of shoulder safety improvements on rural roadways.
The list also includes repair or rehabilitation of more than 50 bridges, improved interchanges, and expanded transit, both through rural areas and in St. Joseph.
The list includes $4.8 billion in transportation projects. While the majority of work focuses on Missouri’s roads and bridges, it also incorporates other modes of transportation.
Among the projects in Northwest Missouri are interchange improvements at I-29 and US-169 highway on St Joseph’s south side. Click here for the complete list of projects in Northwest Missouri. You can view the list from each MODOT region at www.modot.org/movingforward.
In Kansas City, the funds would be used to replace the Broadway Bridge over the Missouri River along US-169. The funds would also provide an intermodal railroad connection to the Port of Kansas City in Jackson County.
It would also include more than $71 million for the Kansas City streetcar project. That money would be contingent on the City of Kansas City coming up with another about $204 million.
