Schade was arrested March 5th after the victim said she was given alcohol and drugs and sexually assaulted. Court documents indicate Schade met with his son while being held in the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail.
In a court affidavit, a Livingston County deputy said Schade’s juvenile son dramatically changed his statement to police after visiting with Schade in jail. Deputy Chris Mueller says he obtained a recording of the son’s jail visit. According to the affidavit, Schade instructed his son to tell police the rape victim engaged in sexual acts with the son. He allegedly told the juvenile that he hoped to get the victim charged with a crime so they could make a deal to drop both criminal cases.
Daviess County Prosecuting Attorney Andrea Gibson filed one class-C felony count of Tampering with a victim/witness. The warrant was served June 19 at the jail in Pattonsburg.
A trial is scheduled in October on the rape and sodomy charges. Schade also faces trial August 6th for allegedly tampering with evidence and hindering prosecution of a DUI case. No hearings have been scheduled yet in the new case.
A second defendant, Amanda Gault, is also being held awaiting trial on sodomy charges. A special prosecutor says Gault met the victim on Facebook, and allegedly lured her to Schade’s house for a party. The victim says the pair gave her alcohol and drugs, and then both sexually assaulted her.
