The Nebraska Department of Roads announces a couple of projects that will slow down traffic in southeastern Nebraska. Both involve spraying oil onto the surface of highways to seal the fine cracks, a so-called “fog seal.”
Weather permitting, both projects are expected to begin the week of June 16.
On US-136, state maintenance crews will do a fog seal from Reference Post 204 to Reference Post 209.57 on the west edge of Tecumseh. The work is anticipated to take 2 days. One-lane traffic will occur with the use of flaggers and a pilot vehicle.
Near Burr, Nebraska, S-66E will also get a fog seal. Crews will shut down one lane at a time from Reference Post 0 to Reference Post 6.18, from Burr east to N-50. This job is also anticipated to take 2 days. Flaggers and a pilot vehicle will help direct traffic through the project.
Motorists should expect to see delays and are reminded to drive cautiously through highway work zones.
