Former State Senator Charlie Shields of Saint Joseph will be the new President and CEO of Truman Medical Center. He moves up from Chief Operating Officer of Truman Medical Center – Lakewood, the position he accepted after term-limiting out of the Senate four years ago.
During his tenure at TMC Lakewood, Shields is credited with transforming the hospital into a facility consistently recognized for both its growth and clinical quality. Shields will replace longtime CEO John W. Bluford III, who announced in late February that he would retire in July.
