Motorists were greeted by snowy and icy conditions Monday morning, causing all manner of problems on area highways.
By 8am, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop H reported at least 15 accidents on I-29. One involving injuries was reported at the north junction with I-229, and another at the junction with US-36 highway.
US 36 had numerous problems as well. A Doniphan County, Kansas Sheriff’s dispatcher said the roadway was like “one long sheet of ice,” with slideoffs on both sides of the river. One wreck in particular shut down traffic on the Pony Express Bridge.
