Area Schools Get Mixed Results On Bond Votes

bond issueThe Mid-Buchanan R-V School District fell short in its efforts to pass a $1.2 million bond issue to build a multipurpose safe room and tornado shelter.

Just 56.8% of voters there voted yes. They needed 57% for the issue to pass.

Voters in Maryville approved a $10.25 million school bond issue by a two-thirds majority.

The money will be spent on a new performing arts center and cafeteria, as well as some athletic and facility upgrades

Voters tabbled Tim Shipley and Rachael Martin for the Maryville City Council. Nodaway County’s one-cent sales tax for road gravel passed with 60% of the vote.

Voters in the Cameron R-1 School district approved by a wide margin a $9.75 million bond issue for construction of a new middle school and security enhancements at all district buildings in Tuesday’s election.

About 70% of voters in the Rock Port R2 School District said yes to both a 40-cent permanent operating levy, and a $2.7 million bond issue to build a new gymnasium.
