Northwest Missouri State University’s annual Student Juried Art Exhibition opens today and continues through Friday, April 25, in the Olive DeLuce Arts Gallery.
The exhibit’s guest juror, Neil Lawley, will choose the artwork included in the exhibit. All undergraduate studio art students are invited to enter up to three works for consideration.
Lawley will give an artist lecture to commemorate the exhibit’s opening at 7 p.m., Monday, April 7, in the Charles Johnson Theater at the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building. Awards for the exhibition will be announced in conjunction with the opening lecture.
Lawley is an assistant professor of art at Missouri Western State University, and he serves as the director of sculpture and art education coordinator of the university. He has experience in ceramics, welding, casting and woodworking. Lawley’s personal work is focused on the relations of things across cultures, languages and objects.
The competitively juried exhibition traditionally includes ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, printmaking, photography, graphic design, painting and drawing. It is a chance for undergraduate students to explore and celebrate their accomplishments of the past academic year.
The Olive DeLuce Art Gallery is open 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays, 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1:30 to 5 p.m. Sundays.
