A group is organizing opposition to the construction of high-voltage power lines to carry wind energy from Kansas to electrical customers to Illinois and points east.
“Block Grain Belt Express-Missouri” hopes to stop the project.
Their immediate goal is to prevent project-backers from becoming a public utility in Missouri and thus gain the power of eminent domain.
On their Web site, the group announced plans for information meetings this Saturday (3/29) at the Knights of Columbus in Salisbury, and next Wednesday, April 2nd, at the Lions Club in Faucett.
Caldwell County commissioners recently wrote to state regulators urging them to reject the project.
