Today at 1:30 p.m., NOAA Weather Radios across Missouri will alert listeners of the statewide tornado drill beginning. There will also be outdoor warning sirens sounding across the state.
The Statewide Tornado Drill is part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, which runs March 3 through March 7. Monday was Preparedness Day, Tuesday was Tornado Safety Day, yesterday was Flash Flood Safety Day, today is also Severe Thunderstorm Day and Friday is NOAA Weather Radio Day.
Everyone is encouraged to participate in this drill, especially to use it as an educational tool for students or children. During the drill, participants should practice taking cover in their designated shelter location at their work, school, or home.
