Police say two sisters from St Joseph stole gift cards from the Heartland East gift shop where they volunteered.
Avery Cary-Wilmes and Anyssa Beavers are each charged with one could of class-C felony theft, involving more than $500 but less than $25,000, but officials say the loss might have been much more than that over the last several years.
Court documents charge Ms Cary-Wilmes with stealing 55 gift cards, and Beavers with stealing 23. The total value of the cards was more than $6,000.
A judge set bond at $7,500 for each. The pair are scheduled to appear in court March 7.
