A St Joseph woman accused of stealing from a church member during services appeared in court in Andrew County Tuesday.
Brenda Ann Perry, 49, is charged with four counts: felony burglary, felony and misdemeanor theft, and fraudulent use of a credit/debit device, a misdemeanor.
Ms Perry told a judge Tuesday she would apply for a public defender.
She is due back in court March 18. Perry is being held under $100,000 bond.
According to court documents, Perry entered the Family Worship Center in Country Club Village during services on February 23. Surveillance video allegedly shows her taking keys, a debit card, cash and checks from the pocket of a coat hanging in the kitchen. She also allegedly entered the victim’s car and stole a purse containing credit cards, cash, and personal information.
Investigators say the suspect later used a bank card at a convenience store. She was arrested by St Joseph police after they received a tip from the clerk at another convenience store.
