The Andrew County Sheriff’s Office is about to close the book on a recent church burglary with the help of St Joseph Police.
Sheriff Bryan Atkins says a tip from a convenience store clerk led to the arrest Saturday of Brenda Perry, who was identified through images obtained from surveillance video.
Perry is being held under $100,000 pending her first court appearance.
She is charged with felony burglary, felony and misdemeanor theft, and a misdemeanor charge of fraudulent use of a credit/debit device.
According to court documents, Perry entered the Family Worship Center in Country Club Village. The video allegedly shows her taking keys, a debit card, cash and checks from the pocket of a coat hanging in the kitchen. She also allegedly entered the victim’s car and stole a purse containing credit cards, cash, and personal information. The incident happened during church services February 23. Investigators say the suspect later used a bank card at a convenience store.
Sheriff Atkins says that on Saturday, March 1, about 1:45 pm, the St Joseph Police Department received a call from a local Convenience Store on Riverside Road. The store clerk reported that a female matching the Perry’s description was at the store. St Joseph Officers responded and took her into custody on the Andrew County warrant.
